## Stat block

A cutting of the Gulthias tree, planted under the Martikovs' Seventh Row by the druids and grown into the row itself: a heaving mass of black vine-wood twice the height of a house. Her branches reach, her vines drag you in and squeeze, and she spits fermenting black wine.

- **Saving throws:** CON +8, WIS +5

### Traits

- **Legendary Resistance (2/Day).** When the Vine Mother fails a saving throw, she can choose to succeed instead, twice a day.

### Actions

- **Multiattack.** The Vine Mother makes two Branch attacks and uses Grasping Vine.
- **Branch.** Hit: 17 (2d10 + 6) Bludgeoning damage.
- **Grasping Vine.** One Large or smaller creature the Vine Mother can sense within 20 feet makes a DC 16 Strength saving throw. Failure: the target is pulled up to 15 feet toward her and has the Grappled condition (escape DC 15). Until the grapple ends, the target takes 13 (2d6 + 6) Bludgeoning damage at the start of each of her turns. She can hold two creatures this way.
- **Black Wine.** Constitution Saving Throw: DC 15, each creature in a 30-foot Cone. Failure: 18 (4d8) Poison damage, and the target has the Poisoned condition until the end of the Vine Mother's next turn. Success: Half damage only.
