# Merchants and Services

## How prices work

- Each merchant marks up the book price of what they sell (their markup below) and pays a share of it for what they buy (their rate). Every price is rounded up to a whole gold piece.
- A merchant's attitude to the party changes both: friendly takes 10% off and pays 10% more; hostile charges 25% more and pays 25% less.
- **Haggling:** one Persuasion check by the hero at the counter, DC 15 unless the shop says otherwise. Win and that merchant gives you a further 10% both ways for good; lose and they never haggle with you again.
- Some merchants close at night or until something happens; some stock only appears after a quest.

Temples sell spells cast for the party, and inns sell a night's room.

|---|---|---|
| Cure Wounds | 50 gp | Heals one hero 2d8 plus the reader's Wisdom modifier. |
| Lesser Restoration | 200 gp | Ends one of these on a hero: Paralyzed, Blinded, Poisoned or Deafened. |
| Remove Curse | 300 gp | Ends every curse on a hero, and breaks their Attunement to a cursed item so they can put it down. |
| Raise Dead | 2000 gp | Brings back a hero who died within the last 10 days, with 1 Hit Point and -4 on D20 Tests for 10 days. The spell uses up a 500 gp diamond, which the church supplies. |
| A room upstairs | 0.5 gp each | A bed each behind a door that locks. Sleep here, and everyone wakes with temporary Hit Points equal to their level. |
| The best room, with a hot bath | 2 gp each | Clean linen, a fire and a copper bath. Sleep here, and everyone wakes with temporary Hit Points equal to twice their level and one more level of Exhaustion gone. |
