# Mount Baratok

## Overview

A steep, pine-dark mountain above Van Richten's lake, with frost where frost shouldn't be, a ring of glass where lightning lands every evening, and a stone hut whose owner has forgotten who he is.

The goat track comes up from the south through switchbacks of pine. The hut stands in a yard to the east; the summit, with its cairn, rises to the north-west; a lookout to the west shows the lake below.

**Resting:** Risky: a rest here can be interrupted.
