# The Ruins of Berez

## Overview

A village the Luna drowned: broken walls standing in reeds and black water, a white statue on the only dry mound, and in the middle, on a stump wider than a house, a hut that breathes.

The marsh south of the Luna river, where Berez used to be. The track from the road comes in from the south-east along an old causeway. Marina's monument stands on its mound in the west; Baba Lysaga's hut squats on its giant stump in the east, ringed by scarecrows.
